This week I have given out a task! It's up to you if you want to give it a try. Info is on our Tasks and Downloads Page. It's all to do with Positive Psychology. Two positive psychologists came together to develop the Happiness Training Plan, an audio program of practical strategies for a happier life, which was launched in 2008 at the Happiness Lectures at the University of Bristol. When I looked into this course, which can by done over the internet, it cost quite a bit, therefore I thought it would be fun to try this out at our sessions, by looking at a step per month starting with Expressing Gratitude in January. Have a go!
It's been a busy week for me! After Monday's meeting, I began the OCD Course with Let's Talk on Tuesday evening. Bit confusing but hopefully this will get less so over the coming weeks. Then dashing off to Gloucester at the end to join Richard Price and his OCD Support Group meeting. I really enjoyed his meeting. It was great to talk about all the weird and wonderful stuff that goes on in my head! Very similar to our YourSpace Group meetings with lots of appreciation of one another's problems and great to catch up with Ian there! Then today I have been along to the launch of The Beacon. Another fantastic group of people. It was good talking to Carrie, who has set this group up. The Beacon will be offering some social activities, such as knitting and woodwork and presenting informal, educational talks regarding mental health issues over the coming weeks and months. This will be every Thursday morning at Podsmead Community Centre from 9am to 11 costing £2. I want to wish Richard and Carries all the very best with these ventures. If you want to get in touch with Richard or Carries see our Useful Books and Website page.
Ian will be leading the Group meeting next Monday 18th Jan and I will catch with everyone on Monday 25th at Barlow Road and Thursday 28th at Hesters Way Baptist Church. Then looking forwad to the lauch of our Art Therapy Classes. Keep watching!!
Hope the coming weeks are good to you all!
Ruth
