We come from every walk of life and share a common bond. That bond is an appreciation of what members of our group are going through and their personal experience.
We began meeting in May 2012 with the aim to create a self-help space. It was set up by a group of people who had attended the "Emotional Well Being" course and who felt that they wanted to continue supporting one another.
The project was later established under the name YourSpace and it has been
acknowledged by the Let's Talk team, NHS Foundation 2getherTrust for
Gloucestershire and affiliated with the charity Mind.
The format of our evening meetings vary, but mostly we share our week. During the sharing time the group give encouragement and support to each other. However, there is no obligation to share.
The group runs a none judgemental policy where folks can come and talk
in a safe and friendly enviroment. The group does not offer a cure but it can
be a useful support when coming to terms with our difficulties and a good place
to discuss ideas to help us manage.
Although the group has a link to the Let's Talk 2gether Trust Team, we are not supported by them, most of our group members come via the charity Mind Neither do we have any association with Cheltenham Borough Homes, Sainsbury's or Hesters Way Baptist Church. These organisations have very kindly offered us their facilities and their support. To which we are very grateful.
