Reflecting on the evening, I think it was good that we all had an equal amount of time to "share" . I thought it gave us all some space to listen to what was being said without jumping in and it seemed to give the sharer time to think and reflect. However, I think we need to ask questions, sometimes, to get clarification, we also need to support members in the group, who may be going through a rough patch. It has always been the philosophy of the group that we don't try to "fix" people. We need to be aware that our questioning can lead to fixing. The individual can fix themselves, we may be able to influence the decisions an individual may make, but ultimately that individual can make their own mind up at the end of the day. I know that some of you guys may have found last nights activity slightly challenging, so thank you for giving it a go, but we need to be aware of our own air time and this way of doing things may be a way forward. And as we finished early last night it was great to be able to have a good chat at the end of the meeting!
So lesson from last nights meeting? LISTEN - CLARIFY - SUPPORT and DON'T FIX.
