Our Summer Social Event has been confirmed for Saturday 9th Aug. Initially we planned a picnic but this has been altered slightly. We know plan to meet for a light lunch at The Air Balloon at Birdlip. The plan is, if you want, you can join me at 10am at Crickley Hill Country Park. I will be having a look at the visitor centre and taking a short walk around the park. We can then make our way to The Air Balloon for a light lunch. If you are only wanting to come to the Air Balloon, then you can meet us there at 12 noon. You can either join us for a drink or food or a chat. I have checked with The Air Balloon and there is no need to book. They have a varied menu, check it out at www.oldenglishinns.co.uk/our-locations/the-air-balloon-birdlip. However if I have a confirmed number I can book on the day, so we can have a table inside if the weather isn't good. If you want to bring someone with you that's fine. Just contact me by email if you want any further info etc. If you want to know about Crickley Hill Country Park you can on:- www.nationaltrust.org.uk/crickley-hill/. There is a charge for parking: £1.00 for up to 2 hours, £2.00 for up to 4 hours and £3.00 all day. So hope to see you there!
Social occasions can be quite daunting for some of us, just making the decision to go can be difficult. However socialising can make a difference to our mood, listening and engaging in conversation could give us a chance to escape ourselves for a short while. Our community and the way we communicate is changing in the digital world we now live in, it can either encourage and keep us isolated or ease the feelings of loneliness. How does the modern world we live in affect your well being? Does it add to the confusion or bring encouragement that things can be for the better?
Just to remind you that the group will be introducing a "Memory Book" when we start back in September, this will be for pictures of our social activates etc, along with the Memory Book I will be compiling a small Introduction Book. I thought it would be nice if each of the groups long standing members wrote a small piece about themselves, I could then put this, along with a picture, into the book and new folks will be able to have some information of who we all are. So if you can please put something together about "you" and a "selfie" that would be great!
We talked a little about the Mindful Way Workbook last night, which is now available from Guildford Press. I have put the info regarding the book on our Website if you are interesting in purchasing it.
Well that's all for now, have a really good Summer folks and I will look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday 9th! Or if you can's make this date 1st September when we will be back at St Aidan's.
